Tanios is the story of a family, of gatherings, of simple souvenirs from a sleepy village in the north of Lebanon.
Sumac is made from ground and dried red velvety berries. It is a tangy spice with a sour, acidic flavour reminiscent of lemon juice.
Tanios sumac is carefully harvested in August & September, and dried slowly in the sun while being protected from the night humidity.
When ready, it is ground in a local cooperative in the village of Andket (Akkar/ Lebanon).
Exceptional.
